Spring 2009 Color Trends

April 11, 2009

Did you know that color trends for the home come from the latest in fashion?  Everything is driven by haute couture and the seasonal runway.  Pantone, Inc. then interprets the latest trends and provides a standard set of colors that you will see used in the graphic arts, fashion, home, interior, plastics, architectural, paint, industrial design and consumer markets.

The Pantone Fashion Color Report for Spring 2009 talks of tangy yellows, soft summery lavenders, and renewal greens – some of Miller Design Co.’s favorites!

Global Visionaries

A Modern Villa Interpretation

A Modern Villa Interpretation

We had the good fortune to collaborate on a Los Altos Hills residence with Field Architecture, global visionaries who create architecture in harmony with the natural world.

Stan and Jess Field, father and son team, are recognized internationally for their powerful designs that are breathtakingly beautiful and have an environmental sensibility.  This residence is a seamless blending both interior and exterior space.  We worked closely with the homeowners to choose furnishings that enhance the architecture and encourage al fresco living.

The Fields traveled recently to New York to receive two of ten prestigious P/A  Awards from Architect Magazine.  The first for The Ubuntu Center, a $6 million, 20,980-square foot community center featuring an HIV and tuberculosis clinic in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.  The second for the Bodega Bauer Winery and Vineyard Estate in Mendoza, Argentina.
